As you would expect from this vibrant and buzzing part of East London, Shoreditch has much to offer whether you love to shop, relax with a coffee or party the night away. You’ll find the quirky and the different but always something to grab your interest whatever the time of day or night, so here’s a few suggestions ….

Start the day right…breakfast or maybe brunch!

How about breakfast Indian style and start the day with a bacon naan roll or if you’re feeling hungry go for the Big Bombay at Dishoom. They serve breakfast from 8am to 11.30am on weekdays and from 9am to midday on weekends so there’s no need to get up too early. In fact, you could spend the whole day lounging in the relaxed atmosphere but there’s definitely more to see in Shoreditch yet.

Brick Lane in the heart of Shoreditch has become celebrated for its street art, featuring artists such as Banksy and Ben Eine. The street art is constantly changing with new work on show; you never know what you will find. East London is well known for its art galleries, with work from both up and coming and established artists work on display. Featuring London’s edgy and artistic crowd, you’ll find contemporary paintings, sculptures, photographs, video and remarkable exhibitions.

After all that culture, some cake and caffeine will help recharge your batteries, after all breakfast was a while ago! Drop into Nude Espresso, just off Brick Lane; you’ll be assured of a warm welcome along with a great selection of lunches or baked treats. Yes, you can shop till you drop in Shoreditch! In fact, it’s a real mecca for vintage fashion and retro clothing with something to suit any budget. Many of the vintage shops cater for both gents and ladies so the boys don’t miss out! Paper Dress, a vintage clothing boutique are offering The Dictionary Hostel guests a 10% discount off all clothing – so that’s well worth a look!

If you love to mooch through market stalls, then Old Spitalfields Market is the place where they have a little bit of everything. Depending on which day you visit you can wander through the general market stalls from Sunday to Wednesday or Thursday’s see an antiques market come to town. Fridays are all about fashion and art while Saturdays at Spitalfields are themed market days offering the best in vintage, designer products and collectibles.

For dedicated vinyl lovers, you must meander over to Rough Trade East, a record shop and music emporium. They also sell books and host in-store gigs most weeknights, plus you can also grab a drink in their coffee shop. So whatever your passion, you can keep calm and carry on shopping in Shoreditch.

Having worked up an appetite with all that shopping, you can turn your attention to the very abundant choice of food in the form of street cafes, restaurants and bars that Shoreditch offers. Live music and club nights are what nightlife in Shoreditch is all about. Whatever your taste in music you’ll find something to tempt you in. Unique venues such as the Village Underground, a renovated warehouse with amazing club nights and regular DJ sets, are well worth checking out. The Oval Space and Oslo Hackney are two great live music venues and have something going on most evenings.

If you are looking for a cool place to hang out then The Old Blue Last is a modern East End pub and one of London’s best live music venues. Shoreditch is definitely on the cool and happening side of the city, from different places to eat to a fantastic nightlife and phenomenal atmosphere.
