29 Jan , 2016 Things To Do In London

Well that’s January over and done with, doesn’t it feel good to move into February?  While the weather is still chilly there’s definitely some love in the air and maybe a pancake or two this month, so let’s see what you can do in London this February.

Chinese New Year – Starting 8th February with the main parade on Sunday 14th February

With events across the capital, London’s annual Chinese New Year celebrations are the biggest in the world outside China. 2016 is the year of the monkey, so why not catch up with the parade which starts at 10 am along Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Avenue.  At midday Trafalgar Square will see performances from acrobats, high pole dancers and troupes from China.

Of course you can visit Chinatown to see the amazing New Year decorations along with the special events in the restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, as well as all sorts of food and craft stalls which line the streets.

You can also get a taste of China in Shoreditch at Rich Mix on Saturday 13th February and celebrate the Chinese New Year with free activities throughout the day, organised by the Chinese Association of Tower Hamlets with performances, charity stalls and arts and crafts workshops.

So whether you prefer a savoury galette with mushroom and truffle oil followed by a sweet crêpe with salted caramel and flaked almonds or American-style pancakes topped with blueberries and bacon and drizzled with maple syrup, it’s all on the menu at Shutterbug.
