Things To Do in London in August
It’s starting to look a lot like summer! Finally, we’ve seen some high temperatures hit the capital and we can now enjoy hazy days out, not forgetting some great summer nights. So what’s London got to keep us entertained with this August?
Visions Festival @ Various Venues in Hackney – 6th August
In its fourth year, Visions Festival once again hits Hackney for a one-day festival of underground music, street food, exhibitions and craft markets. You can party at various venues in Hackney including Oval Space, St John at Hackney Church, Mangle, London Fields Brewery, Moth Club and Netil360.
This year’s acts include Young Fathers, Anna Calvi, Mykki Blanco, Lindstrom and Gengahr, among many up and coming artists. Don’t hang around, tickets are selling fast, and another sell-out year is expected.

Rio Olympics Big Screen @ BeachEast in Stratford – 6th – 21st August
London might not be hosting the 2016 Olympics but you can get up close and personal with the all the Olympic action at big screenings at BeachEast this August.
BeachEast at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of the Official Fanzones for this year’s summer Olympics in Rio. You can experience all of the action and atmosphere of Rio and support the athletes in their quest for Olympic glory. Share some historic and memorable sporting moments with live coverage of games at selected times. Entry to the FanZone is free to all BeachEast goers.
Notting Hill Carnival 2016 – 28th – 29th August
The August Bank Holiday welcomes the biggest street festival in Europe, as carnival fever hits the streets of Notting Hill.
The parades kick off on Sunday, which is known as ‘Children’s Day’, with the Grand Finale on Monday featuring over 60 bands, amazing Carnival floats, and colourful costumes. This larger than life carnival is must if you are in London for the Bank Holiday, the parades start at 10am and the party continues to around 8pm on both days.
South West Four (SW4) @ Clapham Common – 27th – 28th August
Clapham Common see’s the music explosion that is SW4 return for a Bank Holiday weekend of club anthems and beats.
South West Four brings Ibiza to London, with the biggest DJs, headliners such as Rudimental and The Chemical Brothers, along with special guests including Dizzee Rascal, Four Tet, and Cirez D. Tickets are selling fast so if you want your fix of house, EDM, electro, techno and trance this August Bank Holiday be quick.
Rooftop Film Club – Throughout August
Looking for a more relaxed summer evening, then catch some outdoor twilight screenings of top movies as the popular Rooftop Film Club returns to four locations across London, including the Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch. There some real classics screening in August such as Grease, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Spice World, Die Hard and Strangers on a Train, so sit back, sip a cocktail or two and enjoy the views.
