Stuff to do this week in London (pre-Halloweeeeeen)

23 Oct , 2017 Arts,Culture,Food & Drink,Things To Do In London

Guys, I’m not going to lie, there’s loads on this week. I’m genuinely overwhelmed by all the things on. In order to save you from my own fate of self-induced anxiety over what social outings to do, I’ve complied at list for you. Its only up to Thursday. BECAUSE AFTER THAT IT’S BASICALLY HALLOWEEN SO THAT WILL GET IT’S VERY OWN BLOG HOOOOOOOOORAY.

But until then, here’s some stuff to keep you busy.

Monday – The Kolars, Paper Dress Vintage, Hackney Central.

Rob and Lauren are a couple and a super cool LA band. Rob sings and plays guitar and Lauren is on percussions, but, she’s no normal drummer. She stands on a snare drum and tap dances! It’s very impressive. I saw them in May and it was proper good, fun, dance worthy music. Paper Dress Vintage is one of the coolest venues in London – half cocktail bar, half vintage store, definitely worth checking out.

Tuesday – Recreation, Gillie Kleiman, Shoreditch Town Hall, £12.50

Shoreditch Town Hall is literally around the corner from the hostel and tomorrow night one of my favourite artists is on there! Gillie Kleinman is a dance artist who makes generous, riotously funny, experimental dance. This piece is about work, or rather, about all the things we do when we aren’t working. You’d be crazy to miss it.

Wednesday – The Whistling Stop

I love cocktails. Straight Up. Or on the rocks. Or, you know, in a highball. The Whistling Stop is one of Shoreditch’s best cocktail bars. It’s cool, Victorian Themed, underground and it has a super imaginative and informative cocktail list based on old trade routes, real and imagined. What’s not to love!? Go early, get a seat at the bar and then roll back to your bed after multiple drinks. A perfect Wednesday evening if you ask me.

Thursday – The Kitchen, Old Spitalfields Market

Nuno Mendes, awesome chef of Chiltern Firehouse Fame, has overseen a really excellent new lunch concept at Old Spitalfields Market called The Kitchen. The Kitchen has 10 different high-quality restaurants taking up residency, all with fully functioning kitchens. It’s a really awesome way to try some of the places that are a little pricey like Rök, Berber and Q and Flank, and/or gorge yourself on dumplings, from Dumpling Shack.

Thursday is also the best shopping day at Spitalfieds because it’s the vintage and antique market day. Which would be an excellent place to maybe start to think about Halloween costumes!
