That’s it, we’re officially six months into the year! Wasn’t it just Christmas like last week?! Oh well, this means it’s summertime in London, and this is one of the best times to be around, as the capital unveils its outdoor spirit in rooftop bars, festivals and special pop-ups! Here are the events we won’t be missing this month!

 

Rinse | Born & Bred – 4^th & 5^th June

This year, Rinse FM are lending a helping hand to FOUND’s Born & Bred festival, expanding for two whole days of the best artists and DJs in grime, dubstep, house and jungle. You know it’s gonna be a great weekend when you’ve got Wiley and Slimzee, Benga, Lady Leshurr and So Solid Crew on the lineup! Hosted in Haggerston Park, only a 15-minute walk from The Dictionary!

 

Field Day Festival – 11^th & 12^th June

Field Day is back for another slick weekend of carefully curated acts to wet your appetite! This year, PJ Harvey and James Blake headline, bringing their unique acts to the stage at Victoria Park, alongside Yeasayer, Skepta, The Temper Trap, Fat White Family, Beach House, Air and much, much more!

Sunset Safari at ZSL London Zoo – Friday’s from the 3^rd June

What’s better than going to the zoo in the daytime? Going after hours, of course! ZSL London Zoo are opening their gates for 7 Fridays of festivities with great food, amazing science and, the stars of the show, the animals! A self-guided Safari Trail will take you round an excellent schedule of live feeds and talks amongst the exhibits, from the tiny meerkats to the giant tigers. Alongside this, there will be plenty of performance, music and world food to keep you going all evening! Tickets are in hot demand so grab em’ quick!

 

 

‘Mary Heilmann: Looking at Pictures’ at Whitechapel Gallery – from the 8^th June

Mary Heilmann’s beautiful works of abstract art explore colours, line and shapes in an unflinching manner, experimenting with the formats through paintings and ceramics. ‘Looking at pictures’ explores her exuberant artistic career alongside personal photographs all set to an eclectic score of music. If you’re a fan of abstract then do not miss this exhibition!

 

 

Pride in London – 25^th – 26^th June

One of our favourite weekends in London is here once again to fill the capital with love and acceptance and to celebrate the LGBT communities. The awe-inspiring parade on Saturday always gathers huge crowds to watch the festivities and groups as they proudly march through the streets of London, with the party continuing at Trafalgar Square all day long! This year’s theme focuses on standing together to celebrate and work for the extension of the freedom for people everywhere to live with #nofilter More details will be announced over the next month so keep a sharp eye on the website!

 

 

Wimbledon – from the 27^th June

Tennis fans, rejoice! It’s time to get the Pimms and strawberries out and revel in the Great British championships at Wimbledon once again! Who will you gamble on this year? If you want to try your luck at getting tickets, you’ll have to prepare for a gruelling and competitive queue, as only 500 tickets are released per day for the courts. If you can’t get showcourt tickets then you can always attempt to find a patch on the famous ‘Henman Hill’ to watch the matches on the giant screen at the side of No.1 Court.
