Where can I find the cheapest prices?

You will ALWAYS find the cheapest rates here on our website. We don’t charge a booking fee and bookings through us are 100% refundable if you cancel in line with our cancellations policy.

Is there an age limit at The Dictionary Hostel?

Children (under the age of 16) cannot be accommodated at the hostel. Under 18’s cannot stay in any shared dorms, they can stay in private rooms when accompanied by an adult over 18 years. Please note that, bookings cannot be accepted for guests under the age of 18 unless they are over 16 and accompanied by an adult, and guests under the age of 18 cannot be accepted on Friday and Saturday nights.

Can I stay in the same room as my friends / the other people in my booking?

We always do our best to place people in the same party in the same room. However, when booking hostel accommodation, you are simply reserving a bed in a certain room type, not a specified room.For example, if you book 4x beds in a 4-bed dorm, this does not necessarily mean that all 4 beds will be in the same 4-bed dorm.

Normally this is not an issue, however, during busy periods when we have many bookings, your party may be spread across multiple rooms.

Please note: It is recommended that you contact us to reconfirm your booking as early as possible if you wish to be placed in the same room as the other members of your group (subject to availability). Whilst we can not guarantee anything, we will always do our best to help you out! 🙂

How can I pay?

We accept all major credit cards, except American Express. You can also pay in cash when you arrive. If you book online your payment must be secured using a credit or debit card. We cannot make a booking without receiving either payment for the first night.

How can I pay in person at reception?

You can pay in cash or by credit/debit card such as Visa or MasterCard. Please note that we do not accept American Express.

Can I pay in euros / dollars / smiles / hugs / bananas?

We only accept payments in GBP; however the reception can direct you to the nearest currency exchange.Whilst smiles, hugs and bananas are not accepted as payment, they are always appreciated 😉

Do you accept cheques?

No. We don’t accept cheques.

What can I do if I want to extend my stay?

It’s easy! If you want to extend your stay, just come to reception before 10:00 am (check out time) and pay for your new night(s). This is subject to availability. We will try to book you in the same bed in order to make your stay easier, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please note that stays over 2 weeks are subject to management discretion

Does The Dictionary Hostel have any weekly rates?

How safe is it to book on your website?

All bookings made through The Dictionary Hostel website use secure encryption. This ensures that every credit card and all personal details remain secure and safe. We will never pass any of this information to any 3rd party.

Do you charge my card if I book online?

If you pay via our website, we charge you for the first night of your booking. Booking direct with us means you get the cheapest rates available and a flexible cancellation policy. You are entitled to a 100% refund up to 2pm on the day before check in, so there’s absolutely no risk!

Can I change my booking?

It is important that you check your e-mail confirmation carefully. We are not responsible for errors you may have made during your reservation while entering your details.However, we can make changes or corrections, depending on our availability, as long as we are informed at least 24 hours before check in.

Can I make future bookings after I arrive?

Yes. Our reception staff will easily extend your stay if there is still availability.
