London A-Z – C is for cynicism…

6 Apr , 2018 humor,London's Best...

Which is how you know you’re a true Londoner! C is also for charm, charisma and chaos. All words we’d use to describe this big old gray lump we love so much. C is also for lots of other things, so without further ado, here is our monthly guide for you reading pleasure.

Clubs – some of the best Clubbing in the WORLD is in London, with many a great places right around the corner from us. Be sure to check out XOYO, Phonox, Canavan’s Peckham Pool Club, Corsica, Studio Spaces, The Nest, Village Underground, Printworks and Oval Space to start…

Coffee – LONDON LOVES COFFEE. Fuck tea. It’s the London Coffee Festival coming up in a few weeks, which you should definitely check out if you don’t already know about it. There are also some excellent roasters and coffee shops right around the hostel including AllPress, The Pavilion, Nude Espresso and Shoreditch Grind.

Columbia Rd. – I could talk about how great Columbia Rd. is until the cows come home and the calla lilies wilt. Go on Sunday for the flower market. Because of My Fair Lady and also because it’s great. Go every other day for the nicest street in London, chock full of charm and independent bars, restaurants and shops, including our favourite Italian in London, Campania and Jones.

Cookies and Cake – London has some of the best cake shops EVER. And we all love a bit of sugar. Violet Bakery is the best. Even Harry and Megan think so. They make whoopie pies. There’s also Lili Vanili and Hummingbird both in Shoreditch for cupcakes and E5 for all the bready cookies you could dream of.

Catacombs, Crypts and Cemeteries – Dying for sightseeing done a little different? We love visiting some of London’s notable and not that notable former citizens. Check out Abney Park Cemetery, Highgate Cemetery, The Temple of Mithras and Café in the Crypt at St. Martin-in-the-Field Church. And OBVIOUSLY, no trip to London is complete without a visit to the very excellent Westminster Abbey.

Capitol City (LOLZ. Everyone loves a double) London is the capitol city of the UK, which means there’s lots of government and also royal stuff about. Book a tour to visit the beautiful gothic Parliament building, check out the fence near 10 Downing St on Whitehall and visit the Tower of London to learn about the idiots who made Brexit happen.

Cycling- We LOVE bikes. Check out our blog from the autumn on all things cycling. It’s the very best way to get around London.
